Boom! Tune of the Day

The Clash "Career Opportunities"

The Clash - The Clash (1977 CBS Records)

I had previously recorded Boom! Tune of the Day daily on Instagram, so I'll be recycling some of those tunes, as well as digging for new ones... enjoy!

The Clash "Career Opportunities" (Original Boom! Tune of the Day from July 3, 2017).

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is "Career Opportunities" by The Clash, from their 1977 CBS LP. The Clash.

This one is from the crucial debut LP by an essential UK punk band, a favorite of mine since junior high school. As an adult, I can particularly relate to this tune after years of unfulfilling jobs with little hope of advancement... along with this notion that a person is of more value to society working for a corporation, even doing something that they have no real aptitude for or desire to do, than pursuing their dreams or actualizing their purpose of existence. Perhaps it has been a self fulfilling destiny for this nonconformist who was indoctrinated at an early age by punk rock music, I think that it's more probable that the lads had the right idea.
This whole album is special, to me, it's nostalgic, inspirational and also a go to when I'm in need of catharsis.
