Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is "Halloween" from the 1982 Alternative Tentacles release by  Dead Kennedys, Plastic Surgery Disasters.


This was the first "Hardcore" punk album that I heard, my step-dad bought it for me at 7th Heaven Records in K.C., MO. I fell in love with it upon first listen and even today, the LP is still not only relevant, but  crucial.

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is "Halber Mensch" from the 1985 Some Bizzare release by  Einstürzende Neubauten, 1/2 Mensch.

I had never heard anything like this when first exposed to this band as a teenager. A discordant chorale in German from a band known for performing with power tools, large scraps of metal and even molotov cocktails... Intriguingly spooky!

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is "O - O (Where Evil Dwells)" by Wiseblood, from the 1987 K.422 / Relativity Records album, Dirtdish.

Wiseblood consists of J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus) and Roli Mosimann (Swans).
Combining samples and unrelenting percussion, the sound is harsh and the lyrical content can be dark and sardonic. This song in particular takes it's subject from Where Evil Dwells, the 1985 film about satanic murderer, Ricky Kasso.

"Nobody ever called Ricky Kasso an asshole."

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is Masta Ace Incorporated with "SlaughtaHouse" from the 1993 Delicious Vinyl LP, SlaughtaHouse.



Masta Ace first made his name as one of Marley Marl's Juice Crew MC's, releasing his first LP, 1990's Take A Look Around, on Cold Chillin'.
This album was reactionary to the mainstream attention that "Gangsta Rap" garnished during the era of the early 90's.

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is  "Agent Orange" by Cage from the 1997 Fondle 'Em Records 12" Single, Radiohead / Agent Orange.



Known for beefing with Eminem on wax early in his career, this tune finds the N.Y. MC role-playing as a droog from one of my all-time favorite films, A Clockwork Orange.

The beat is provided by his accomplice, Necro, real horror-show!

Today's Boom! Tune of the Day is "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" from The Black Album by The Damned (1980,  Chiswick Records).


As part of the initial wave of late 70's U.K. Punk bands (pre-dating The Sex Pistols), The Damned set themselves apart from their peers not only in being more adept musicians than a lot of their contemporaries who were just learning to play their instruments, but also in their theatrical nature and pre-goth image of singer, Dave Vanian.

This album found them progressing even further, resulting in a raw, psychedelic, masterpiece.
