Schoolly D "Smoke Some Kill"

Today's  Boom! Tune of the Day is "Smoke Some Kill" by Schoolly D, from his 1988 Jive LP, Smoke Some Kill.

This one is from the Philadelphia, PA MC who is regarded as one of the originators of the genre called "Gangsta Rap." His freestyle rhymes about drinking alcohol, smoking "cheeba cheeba" and other illicit activities and his adventures with his crew, the Park Side Killas, interweave with often experimental drum programs and funk samples, cut in and out of the mix by DJ Code Money, to create a perfect blend of raw, creative and groovy jams. This one was the title track and a single from his third LP.
